MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:The Design Estimation and Costing Specialist will analyze design outputs, gather raw material costs, and prepare accurate cost estimates for pre-quotation pricing. This role ensures that the sales team has reliable pricing data to submit competitive quotes to customers.

  2. Timely Data Delivery: Provide the sales team with cost estimates promptly to support quick quote submissions.
  3. Collaborative Efficiency: Ensure smooth collaboration with design and purchase teams for accurate and efficient cost calculations.
  4. Quotation Success: Contribute to higher quotation success rates by providing competitive and well-calculated prices.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

  1. Review requirement sheet or technical specification provided by the sales team.
  2. Review design outputs provided by the Electrical and Mechanical design teams.
  3. Analyze the required materials, components, and processes needed to produce the final product.
  4. Gather up-to-date raw material costs from the Purchase team and other relevant sources.
  5. Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates based on design outputs and raw material prices.
  6. Include considerations for labor, production overheads, and any other relevant costs.
  7. Prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns and ensure all estimates align with the company’s pricing strategies.
  8. Provide the sales team with the final list price based on the cost estimates.
  9. Ensure that all cost data is clearly documented and presented for easy understanding by the sales team.
  10. Support the sales team in refining quotes if there are changes in customer requirements or market conditions.
  11. Work closely with the Electrical, Mechanical, and Purchase teams to ensure accuracy in cost estimation.
  12. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure alignment between design, costing, and pricing.
  13. Continuously evaluate and improve the costing process to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  14. Maintain detailed records of all cost estimates and related documentation.
  15. Prepare reports on cost estimation activities, highlighting any variances or discrepancies.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:Qualification (Must/Desirable): B.E. / B. Tech in Electrical Engineering   Experience:  Min. 5 years of experience in cost estimation, pricing, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment of an electrical product such as Transformers, Panels, Cables, Switchgears etc.
SPECIAL SKILLS:Strong analytical skills with the ability to accurately assess costs and pricing. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems like SAP Business One is an advantage. Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in work. Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to work.
